Following the success of past tree planting events, when Andrew Edmondson, the Managing Director of Purely Digital, reached out to our Director, Craig Barker, with another invite to lend a hand, how could he refuse?
As a move towards supporting environmental change and a greener future, Craig joined Andrew to attend the Woodland Trust’s tree planting day in partnership with Premier Paper Group Ltd at Frodsham Wood in North Cheshire. The collaborative effort from all those who took part in the group, marks a substantial contribution to their Carbon Capture® programme, with an outstanding 3000 trees planted on the day!
Woodland Trust plants trees, protects woods, restores ancient woodland, provides research and evidence and influences Government policy on climate change – with a mission to not only safeguard our futures, but generations to come.
Both Craig and Andrew were hands-on in helping to transform the former golf course at Frodsham Wood into a thriving natural habitat at Woodland Trust’s biggest tree planting event of the year.
This initiative is not only a positive step towards mitigating CO2 emissions caused by paper production and distribution, but also a statement in support of local communities and wildlife.
Craig expressed his enthusiasm for the day, “At Koobr, we firmly believe in making a positive difference, a value that resonates through every aspect of our business. Being part of tree planting days allows us to extend our commitment beyond the confines of the office.
“It’s an honour to be part of these initiatives and to help build a sustainable future, leaving the world in a better place than we found it.”
Andrew Edmondson added, “Engaging in initiatives like Woodland Trust’s tree planting day is an integral part of our business philosophy. As one of the first printers in the UK to enrol on a full Carbon Capture scheme, we regularly take part in days like this.
“It’s all about understanding and taking responsibility for the impact we all have on the environment, a chance to give back tangibly and help create a greener future for communities.”
The day was a hands-on experience for all participants, allowing them to directly support and contribute to the Woodland Trust’s vital work. The former golf course will develop as native broadleaf woodland and all trees planted will help to grow The Mersey Forest and the larger Northern Forest, stretching from Liverpool to the Yorkshire coast.
