Fast-growing, Derby-based creative agency Koobr, are looking for an enthusiastic, talented ‘web wizard’ to join their team of ‘Creative Revolutionaries’.

We are looking for a bright spark with ambitions to conquer the world! An enthusiastic person that lives and breathes all things web and digital, to the point of obsession!

This role is for a person interested in both front-end and back-end programming. Someone who has already started attempting to learn about web development on their own time and initiative.

You will gain a wealth of experience, working alongside an extremely talented team with various specialist skills including an experienced web developer.

We will expect you to be proactive with self-initiated learning but will give you full support and training where required.

You will have an amazing attention to detail, this will enable you to create pixel perfect websites and user experiences, that work superbly across different web browsers and responsively with mobile and tablet devices.

The work that you undertake will be varied and you will learn new areas of web development throughout your placement, receiving coaching and development to improve your skills.

Duties include:

  • Building websites from start to finish
  • Helping to maintain existing websites
  • Building reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Working closely with the management/design team
  • Helping to plan website functionality/user experience
  • Working with CMS/e-commerce platforms such as WordPress and Magento
  • Integrating systems with a website via an API
  • Creating web apps / mobile apps
  • Stringent testing, bug fixing and logical problem solving
  • Optimising a website or application for maximum speed/scalability
  • Refactoring of existing code
  • Managing and administering web servers
  • Technical support
  • Self-initiated learning of new technologies/techniques
  • Researching current design / technology trends / industry developments

Requirements:

Your attitude and commitment are the most important elements of this role. We will be looking for the right attitude foremost, as skills can be taught.
The candidate must have/be the following:

  • An interest in web development and software and be looking for a career in the industry
  • Well presented, confident and easy to get on with
  • Organised and self-motivated, with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Very strong communication and literacy skills (written, face-to-face and over the phone), with the ability to manage expectations
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong computer literacy and excellent ability to learn new IT systems
  • Take full ownership of any tasks that they are allocated, caring about the outcome and taking responsibility for their own quality control
  • Some basic knowledge and experience of programming languages
  • Take pride in their work and have strong attention to detail

It would be an advantage for the candidate to have the following:

  • Some knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Web design or development experience/skills
  • Based in the Derby City area

Skills:

  • The ability to manage a complex range of tasks and workflow
  • Knowledge of current web best practice and legal requirements
  • GIT version control
